Anti-Theft - Car Covers

Car covers protect your car in more ways than you might think. The obvious way is by protecting your cars paint job from dust and the elements. A car cover can also protect your car from being stolen. Even though an automobile cover is a thin piece of fabric it can provide powerful protection for your car or the contents in your car being stolen.

A person stealing a vehicle wants to quietly and quickly enter a car, start it and get on the road. They have to do this in a matter of seconds so as not to be discovered. A car that is covered will take more time to get into and will be more noticeable. For instance a thief can't just pull off a cover and throw it on the ground that would look suspicious. A cover takes a few minutes to take off of a car and that one reason why a car cover is a good theft deterrent.

Not only does a custom auto cover protect the exterior of your car it also protects the interior and its contents as well. A thief will not be able to see what type of stereo equipment or anything else you of that is valuable inside your car with a cover on it. This keeps a thief from seeing something tempting to steal in your car.

An auto cover is a good deterrent for a thief and you can be make it even harder for someone to steal your car by adding a car cover lock and cable accessory to your auto cover. This will secure your car cover to your vehicle. You can write your name on the car cover and usually instructions are included to give you details about the correct way to mark your car cover.

Getting a car cover lock and cable along with your custom fitted automobile cover will give you more protection to deter a car thief. The cable is vinyl covered and is designed so it will not harm your paint or any other part of your car. The car cover comes with heavily reinforced grommets and tie down loops. The grommets are located about two inches from the bottom of the car cover and are located about midway lengthwise on the cover. To install the lock and cable you run the cable through one of the grommets and under your car and then through the other grommet. You then close the lock and your car cover is secure.

Your car is a major investment and by using an outdoor automobile cover you can protect your car from dirt, rain, birds and thieves. Your car will be protected no matter whether you park in a busy parking lot or on a quiet street. You get double protection if you use a cable and lock system with your cover. With a lock and cable in place your car is protected from high winds and also from theft. It is a perfect way to keep your car looking new and to keep prying eyes away from the inside of your vehicle.

Why You Should Buy A Car Cover If Your Car Is Parked Outdoors

If you are the type of person who likes nice things and makes every attempt to take care of your nice things then consider your nicest things for a moment, your home or your car, maybe some jewelry? These are all things that have to be taken care of in order for you to get the most out of your hefty investment. Where do you park your car? Well, it could be in a parking lot, a driveway, a street, or a garage. If you keep your car covered regardless of where it is, it will look much nicer for a long time. If you are fortunate enough to park in a garage that is great but garages are full of dust and the dust will require that you wash your car more often resulting in a more rapidly aging coat. Dust damages your car even before you might get a chance to wash it. The particles in dust actually scratch a car and if wiped off, damage it even more. So, even cars that are parked in a garage should be covered.

If you have to park your car in one of these other spots that are mentioned above then there is no question that you must invest in a car cover. Think about it for a second, people cover their gas BBQ grills, their patio furniture, and their bikes so why wouldn't someone cover their car that costs a whole lot more? If your car is not covered it is subject to rain, hail, intense sunshine, snow, and ice. It is also vulnerable to birds flying overhead and kids driving by it on their bikes. There are many different types depending on your needs and your needs will vary according to what climate that you live in. Someone in Michigan will be fighting elements that are different from someone in Arizona but they are still fighting some type of element. One of the worst enemies is the sun which can not only dull and damage your exterior coat on your car but also the interior will begin to fade as well. If your car has leather or vinyl interior you can be assured that it won't be long before that starts to crack and peel from the sun.

Do yourself a favor and at least do a little research on car covers and the importance of covering your car. See what is available and the various prices that you will soon discover that the cost of the car cover will never exceed the cost of the repair job that lies in your future if you continue to leave your car uncovered. One piece of advice is to avoid waterproof ones because any moisture that gets up under the cover is not able to evaporate which can cause rust damage eventually. It is best to stick with water repellent car covers instead so that the air has a chance to circulate and then the water will have an opportunity to evaporate.

Waterproof Car Covers And The Advantages They Offer

Waterproof car covers can be a good option for protecting your car against most of the factors that can prevent you from using it for as long as it is meant to serve you. With the right and appropriate car covers you will enjoy the value that your car supposes to give you much than when you do not use a car cover.

Why You Need Waterproof Car Covers
If you live in a place where you do not have the opportunity of parking your car in a garage, then, you do not have any choice than to park outside, where there are many hazards that can affect or damage your car body paint and shine and even the interior.

You need to know these hazards, some of which you might not have realized how bad they can be on your vehicle, so that you can begin to do something about them.

1. The sun: The sun gives us heat, but at the same time, it releases high intensity, high penetrating ultraviolet rays which are harmful not only to your car body paint but also the leather inside, by making them to fade in color and to look old quicker than normal.

2. Rain and snow: Naturally, water or moisture causes corrosion on metallic objects, the same thing happens when rain or water droplets stays on your car body more than necessary, continual exposure of your car to rain will encourage quick rusting of the paints.
3. Dusts: They are small specks of trouble, though they look harmless but when your environment is a really dusty one, and some of these dusts which usually accumulate on your car are moisture laden, they start corroding the car faster than you can imagine.

4. Burglars: People or passersby can see through into your car and when you keep or forget your valuables inside, it becomes a target for thieves, especially in the night when everywhere is dark and deserted.

Waterproof Car Covers: The Solution
All the problems above which you cannot avoid can be effectively solved using the appropriate water proof car covers which you can get easily and at not too high a price, and have your prized investment securely protected.

One very important factor that you need to really look into when you want to buy your waterproof car covers is the material from which they are made. These covers are made to particularly keep rain, water and anything moisture away from touching your car body, but if the materials used are not breathable they become a moisture trap and entrap moisture underneath, directly on your car paint thereby damaging it. Hence, you would need to look for breathable car cover to adequately meet your needs.

You also need to know the right steps to take to get the right suppliers, those that can offer you discounts, free shipping, adequate purchasing guide and chief of all, quality brands which can really last on your car and be tough on any environmental and climatic hazards.

Acid rain is fast becoming a menace in our cities because of increase in industrial activities which leads to release of harmful chemicals into the atmosphere, and which later falls back to the ground dissolved by rain. When such chemical laden rain fall on your car you can imagine what is bound to happen, but just with the right waterproof car covers having multi-layer features specially manufactured for this, you have nothing to fear as your car is well protected.

Why a Classic Car Cover is a Wise and Cheap Investment For Your Collector Automobile

Classic car covers are an afterthought for many collector car owners, but they can be an invaluable tool to keep your hot rod or other collectible safe and in top shape. Whether protecting your car from dings in the garage from tools, or shielding the car from the outdoor elements, the proper car cover can protect your ride for a pretty low price. Top of the line covers will cost you up to $150, but depending on your needs you could get by with a very low end cover for around $30. This article will help you determine your needs and which cover is right for you.

The first note that needs to be mentioned is that not all car covers are the same. Buying a one size fits all car cover at your local retail store is not the same as getting a correctly sized cover to fit your model perfectly. These cheap universal covers are single layered fabric, and cost around $30 in the stores. You can buy the same type of cover online for the same price, and it will be fitted to match your model.

The importance of this is that the less a cover properly fits the car, the better chance for moisture to build up underneath the cover, which can cause serious problems to many parts of your car if left unattended for awhile. You want the car to be wrapped up tight like a cocoon. Once moisture enters, the cheaper car covers may not "breathe" as well as upper end covers, meaning the moisture cannot evaporate properly. You want a breathable cocoon.

The cheaper single layer covers will be perfectly fine if your car is garaged, keeping it safe from dust, moisture, and possible dents. If you are worried about dings from working in the area, a triple layer cover may be required. Protecting your car from the outside elements will require a heavy duty cover, and there are different options depending on whether you are mainly protecting the car from the sun or moisture. The top of the line models can be used in both scenarios, but if you are protecting from mostly one element, you will want to make your decision based on that point.

Car covers designed to protect from moisture can be very thick, usually triple covered breathable material. This will allow the cover to keep out the moisture, yet still allow it to properly evaporate if it does get underneath. Even the best car cover cannot hold up to a torrential rain, and moisture will seep in under this scenario. A triple layer cover is also important under snowy conditions.

The snow falling will have minimal impact on the car and cover when falling, but that will eventually melt into water causing problems. Snow can be slow to melt and can collect in ice pools, causing sitting water to breach the cover. The melting and refreezing of the snow and slush can take a toll on your classic car cover, so you may want to invest in a high quality cover from the beginning.

The high heat and ultraviolet rays of the sun can do some serious damage to a paint job, interior plastic, and leather. The fading done by the sun is not from the heat, but the intense ultraviolet rays emitted by the sun. There are car covers designed to block 99.8% of the damaging ultraviolet light, using treated fabric. Dupont Tyvek is a material used in some good car covers that will properly protect your car. Having a car cover not treated to block the ultraviolet light can actually trap heat under the cover, which you never want. If your car will be stored outdoors in Florida, Texas, and California you should invest in a cover specializing in blocking ultraviolet light.

When you are ready to use your new cover, remember to wash the car first. Dragging dirt and grime over your car, even the smallest particles, can do a number on your beautiful paint job. Even if you are storing an old car out back by the woods, a small invest now may mean a bigger return later as rust and other corrosion can be kept to a minimum, and possibly eliminated in some covered areas.
